On September 9th, 2021, the Sequoia National Forest erupted in flames in a fire now known as the Windy Fire. Less than a day later, another fire popped up soon to be dubbed the KNP Complex Fire. Both fires are located within Tulare County. As of September 27th, the Windy Fire had burned over 85,000 acres with only 2% containment and the KNP Complex Fire had burned approximately 47,000 acres with 8% containment. Multiple evacuation orders have been issued since the fires started, with thousands of people and pets displaced.

She was extremely matted when she first arrived; so much so that her ears were immobile and stuck to her head. Despite her unkempt appearance, Jojo seemed to be in good spirits and appeared relieved to be in our care.
