Enjoy Fee Waived Adoptions this Friday!

By Humane Society of Ventura County

Don't miss out on the Humane Society of Ventura County's first-ever Clear the Shelters fee-waived adoption event! Join us at the shelter, located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai, on Friday, August 18th, from 10 am - 4 pm for FREE adoptions! That's right, you could take home a furry family member for FREE! Clear The Shelters 2023 is a nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign that helps find loving homes for animals in need. More than 860,000 pets have found their forever homes since the campaign's launch in 2015. We could not be more excited to participate! Please visit our Adopt page to review HSVC's adoption requirements prior to arriving at the shelter this Friday. All potential adopters must participate in the full adoption process to ensure each pet finds the best-suited home. This promotion does not guarantee the adoption of an HSVC shelter animal.  Note that for all same-day dog adoptions, potential adopters MUST show proof of home ownership or a rental agreement stating they are allowed to have a dog in their home. Potential adopters must also bring photos/videos of their yard to show proof that it is secure enough for their desired pet. All dogs requiring additional meet and greets will be scheduled for a later date with the fee-waived price honored. Thank you! Interested in joining our Clear the Shelters campaign but not quite ready to bring home a furry friend? You can still support HSVC by donating to benefit shelter animals in need. You Can Support Maui Humane Society Fire Disaster Relief!

By Humane Society of Ventura County

We at HSVC are standing by to learn how we can best support the efforts of Maui Humane Society during this challenging and tragic time. We are receiving regular updates about how the situation is evolving, and how support may be needed in the coming days, weeks, and months. Many staff and volunteers at HSVC were here through the Thomas and Woolsey Fires, a time which saw a need for the intake of hundreds of animals and onsite 24/7 work to care for the animals and the community. We are now ready to pay forward the incredible support that we received from around the world during that time. To learn how you can support as the situation evolves, please visit the Maui Humane Society website. You can also stay updated by following them on Facebook or Instagram.  The staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers of the Humane Society of Ventura County are keeping the animals and people of Maui in our thoughts during this challenging and tragic time. Rancho Grande Owners Sponsor Ten Dog Adoptions

By Humane Society of Ventura County

The HSVC would like to extend a huge thank you to Linda and Richard Murad of Rancho Grande for sponsoring ten dog adoptions in celebration of Clear the Shelters! The pair initially visited our shelter to meet Dahlia, a mini donkey currently available for adoption. While it wasn't a match with Dahlia, Linda and Richard still wanted to help the shelter in some way. They have a special place in their heart for dogs and decided to sponsor the adoptions of ten shelter dogs in need of homes. Our staff was blown away by their generosity!

Bosco the Hero!

By Humane Society of Ventura County

Not all heroes wear capes! We recently had a cat come into our shelter in desperate need of a blood transfusion. Shelter staff quickly took the cat to a local vet for emergency care. They also brought 6-year-old cats Bosco (pictured) and Frisky in hopes one would be a match as a blood donor. Frisky was not a match, but thankfully Bosco was! The cat he saved is now on the road to recovery, and Bosco is a hero in the eyes of the shelter staff and volunteers.  Now Bosco needs a hero of his own! The handsome shorthair has been patiently waiting for someone to take him home ever since he was surrendered to the shelter in mid-July. He arrived with his friend Frisky, who is also available for adoption. Both boys are sweet, friendly cats who love to snuggle. Bosco can be a little shy at first, but he opens up to new folks quickly once he realizes ear scratches are on the table.  As part of our Clear the Shelters adoption special, Bosco's adoption fee is just $50! Stop by the HSVC if you are ready to be his hero. He's available to meet new friends any time Monday - Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm and the shelter is located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai.
